Should i see apollo 18
Be warned that there is some slight gore in a way, I forgot what the scene was exactly but I remember that one of the astronauts cut open a part of the other astronaut's body to see if there is something infecting that astronaut. All and all, I don't recommend this movie to anyone because of how boring it is. This review Helped me decide 1. Had useful details. Read my mind. Report this review. Teen, 16 years old Written by MovieGeek September 23, Disappointing found-footage horror flick. I first heard of this movie around the time it came out and instantly wanted to see it, the cover looked so interesting and the blurb left so much mystery that I was captured by it.
After watching it I can say that I was thoroughly disappointed with what I saw. Secondly the premise of the movie is that there are alien moon rock crabs that possess one of the crew members is just dumb.
The movie is not scary or very graphic either so it should be suitable fo ages 14 and up. Teen, 17 years old Written by NirvanaSamurai March 28, Helped me decide. Kid, 10 years old June 4, FANTASTIC a really good, found footage thriller, IM am really sick of people saying that this is a rip off of paranormal activity and Blair Witch, this is really good, and Rotten Tomatoes gave this one star, well the guy reviewing it must of been blind.
Teen, 13 years old Written by perimia May 28, Decent, but definitely not for kids under ten or eleven. This film should be fine for kids, but I don't see the point in persisting to get to see it because it's not actually that good film.
It's thrilling, and there's constant, constant suspense which builds the film up. There are two disturbing moments; one where a man pulls something out an injury, another when he complains of something being in his suit and when he turns round there's a spider-like thing on his face.
It's not exactly uplifting, but a good introduction to the horror genre. This title contains: Positive role models. Kid, 12 years old November 23, Kid, 11 years old July 13, Pretty Bad Pretty bad stupid, and a waste of time.
However, the movie is badly written in that scenes and bits of dialogue don't flow very well from one bit to another. Also the ending, it was far too short and too rushed. The acting was okay I guess, but the actors didn't have much to work from and the characters I just couldn't care about.
The story is not just predictable, it is also really flabby, it starts off good, slows down in the middle, grinds to a halt and by the time the ending comes there was not much time left and they rushed it off. Consequently, the tension and suspense levels are disappointingly low. In conclusion, never takes off and very disappointing considering the potential. Was this review helpful? Sign in to vote. The "lost footage" was edited down to what's shown here and it shows what happened to the two astronauts that went to the moon but never came back.
That's a real shame because I remember seeing the trailer for this film and thinking what a terrific movie could come from it but sadly everything that could go wrong does. I think there are a lot of problems with this film including the fact that we never really get to know our two lead characters so it's really hard to care about them. Most of these types of films work because you care about the characters and don't want to see anything bad happen to them. Another problem is the footage itself, which is just ugly and slow.
Without the end credits this movie clocks in at under minutes but I could have sworn it felt ten times longer than that. It appears that all of the footage is moving at a slower rate that makes the running time drag and the way the footage is presented is just annoying. We're told that hours of footage was discovered and if this was really true I really feel sorry for whoever had to watch all of it. The performances never really take off, the direction is flat and it appears that the story simply doesn't go anywhere.
There were so many good things that could have been done with this story but sadly everything here pretty much falls flat on its face. It's really too bad because this type of film should have worked without any issues but what we're left with is a major disappointment but hopefully a remake won't take too long. A not bad addition to the 'found footage' genre. APOLLO 18 is actually pretty good in places, building a nicely tense atmosphere through lots of understatement, a gradual but increasing sense of unease, and a subtlety that pays off in terms of extra realism.
The concept behind the film is great: what better backdrop for a creepy, slow-building horror film than the hostile, inhospitable, alien backdrop of the moon?
The movie that builds around this concept is very predictable, but no less engaging for it. A couple of no-name actors Warren Christie and Lloyd Owen are picked to add to the documentary feel, and they both contribute sterling work. Sad, then, that the eventual denouement and reveal is slightly lacklustre. Let's just say that the menace in the film is very obvious and probably the most predictable thing of all.
Instead of being wowed by it, I ended up thinking 'oh, not that again'. SnoopyStyle 29 April In , Apollo missions 18, 19, 20 were canceled due to the budget. In , Apollo 17 lands on the moon as the final official mission. In , 84 hours of classified footage is revealed. By now, I'm a little tired of the found-footage premise. I imagine this would work much better with a straight forward telling. This could have been something great but it is as lifeless as the moon. Nothing remotely scary happens for the first half.
The second half has some marginal body horror, creature horror, and zombie horror. Overall, it is marginal at its best and boring at its worst. Nathan and Ben land on the Moon in the Liberty module while John stays in orbit in the module Freedom. They collect rock samples and bring them to the Liberty. They also find footprints and the body of a Soviet cosmonaut on the Moon.
Soon they hear weird noises and they find that they are not alone in the satellite. The result is a boring movie with awful footages and edition. My vote is three. Title Brazil : "Apollo 18". This review contains the spoiler of telling you why they went to the moon, but not the ending. The reason why no one knew about this mission was because it was top secret. The movie cleverly combines actual film footage of NASA with their own track over and their own film. They were careful enough to use side lighting to create the long shadows seen in the NASA films.
I appreciate it when they do their homework. The cameras have been put in place. This avoids much of that sea sick motion you get from the other reality translate:cheap type movies. Now the reason why they really went there was to check on the Russians who have landed a LEM looks like a diving bell on the moon. The crew was not informed about this so they really panicked when they found another set of footprints. What we know: 1 The Russian is dead, apparently killed. Now I hate hand held reality movies.
My finger is on the fast forward button more than a lab rat pressing for cheese. But this one held my interest. I wanted to see what was causing all the grief, even if it was just for a fleeting moment and later they did resort to the herky-jerky camera. I was too far along at the time. I wonder how this lines up with "The Dark Side of the Moon? So another found footage movie. Are you annoyed yet? It's perfectly understandable if you are. I'm not a big fan either.
And while the beginning had to be some sort of introduction to the characters with a fake scare or two thrown into the mix to keep it interesting , it felt long and almost boring. Of course, if you consider flying to outer space in such a small space, there are other things to consider.
But the movie really takes off sorry for the pun , after they land. It's there and especially in the close environment of the ship, that it fully captures you. The tension is there and for at least some of the time you are with the characters. Great photography even when it's obviously very coincidental and a very good sound mix help with the overall mood. Not a masterpiece, but a decent enough movie, if you "survive" watching the first minutes Decades-old found footage from NASA's abandoned Apollo 18 mission, where two American astronauts were sent on a secret expedition, reveals the reason the U.
Up front I want to say I am not a fan of "found footage" movies or POV films, or anything like that where we are lead to believe it is a documentary shot with cheap cameras. While this tactic works for certain things, more often than not it is just annoying to watch. With that in mind, you might guess I had a low expectation for this film which I did. I actually have to give them credit, though.
The creators did some things right. In fact, many things. They started with a good idea and were able to visually present it. What happened to these missions? Friedman hasn't been allowed to view the film yet, according to the Los Angeles Times , but said he's open to the possibility that the Apollo 18 mission did occur and that NASA's been covering it up.
I'm saying it's possible that there's a whole classified side to this and that it would make sense. I allow for that possibility. For its part, NASA said it trusts most members of the public to recognize the movie for what it is. The ingenious premise of "Apollo 18" which opened Sept. Their ostensible brief was to set up some military radar equipment. The actual purpose was to check out some strange happenings involving alien presence. The guinea pig astronauts were literally flying blind, as they weren't told about the real reason for their lunar jaunt.
Indeed, the fact that they had been sent to the moon at all was kept secret from their families, from the public, and — it seems — from tens of thousands of NASA employees. You might think that this last group, at least, would have a "need to know.
